The importance of sustainability to Goodwood Fuel. 

We are relentless in our efforts to be “Greener” & more sustainable.

Our latest initiative is a partnership made in heaven.

Goodwood Fuel Ltd & East Coast Tree Project are working together. 

Goodwoods’ initial target is 2000 native (mainly) broadleaf trees to be planted in the locality.

 We plant up to 30 different species of native trees, some of which are very rare, making these wildlife corridors and forest the most biodiverse in Ireland in terms of tree diversity. Each species of tree has its own community of organisms that rely upon it, some can only complete their life cycle with the help of a specific tree species. This in turn will increase the biodiversity of insect species such as endangered bees, rare butterflies, beetles and moths. This abundance of insects combined with the abundance of wild berries will provide food for songbirds, many of which are in decline.

For each crate of our premium kiln dried firewood bought, together we sponsor the planting of one of these trees. With the typical volume of wood we get, we are planting 4 to 6 new trees for each one felled, offsetting our carbon footprint. We are very proud of this initiative & hope you will be impressed.
